Chapter 1 - The Shadow Dance
Click. Click. Click.
The sound of a heel hitting the ground could be heard the down the dark street. The pavement was laced with black, shadows swimming over it. The sky was a darker shade then usual, and the darkness appeared to be restless. The strange thing about it was that is wasn't night. In fact, it was a normal sunny day throughout the city. It was only in the one spot, that one alleyway, where shadows lingered.
Now, one would assume that perhaps a large structure was casting the alley in shadow, and that was the reason that it was so dark. Another would presume that the sun was hidden behind a cloud, and this darkness was momentary and fleeting. However, both would be wrong. The only reason that certain alleyway was cast in the shadows, was because a person was doing it.
Click. Click. Click.
The walking hadn't ceased. It continued all the way down the paved alley, he person's shadow being mixed into the darkness that was already there. A small frown grew on the person's lips, which were colored by a cheap lip gloss. The person's eyes were a dull, boring blue, and her hair a generic blonde. If a person were to see this being walking along, they would guess that she was just your average teenage girl. Plain. Ordinary. Unexciting.
But she had a secret.
(( That's all I'm writing for now. I don't want to go too far into the story in case someone wants to join. Feel free to, guys. ;D ))

Chapter 2 - Acknowledgment (Most of it written by Echo)
Beep. Beep. Beeeeep.
A pair of bleary eyes opened slowly, shocked by the amount of light in the sunny bedroom. It was shaping up to be beautiful morning but even so, why did that infernal alarm clock decide to go off today, of all days? The person who said alarm clock belonged to was already getting less and less sleep each night, mostly due to – "Rosa! Rise and shine sleepyhead, its exam day today! And the day after and after and after as well!" – that. How annoying mothers could be. The girl's mum was starting the morning wake-up routine, which includes yelling at the top of her voice to wake everyone in the house up simultaneously. "Coming Mum..." the girl called, her voice cracking from lack of sleep. She had been studying non-stop for her various maths and other tests, and was up at six o'clock just to cram a bit more in.
"Come on Rosa, I know you're ignoring me, so get up and get out here. Breakfasts ready." 'Oh yippee', she thought. 'Just what I need; some nice cold porridge to wash down my extreme anxiety.'
Rosa's mother was going through a phase where she ate nothing for breakfast but porridge, and seeing as it was high summer it would be impractical to serve it anything but cold. Yet, it had to be done, so she heaved myself out of bed, stumbling around drunkenly searching for her school uniform, tripping over various items of clothing that had misplaced themselves on the floor as she passed. Eventually she got on her uniform on and, looking less like a sleepwalking zombie and more like a living, breathing human being, made her way across the long corridor to the kitchen. Shoving down her porridge (which promptly settled like a brick in my stomach) and cramming in some last minute geography study, she rushed off to school in her dad's car on his way to work, for she had slept in too long to catch the bus like she usually does.
The car sped towards the school, taking the shortest route to get to the destination of choice; school. The girl sighed, and flicked back some of her soft, shiny hair. Her father was talking of this and that, but she wasn't listening for more than a couple reasons. One, she was too tired to concentrate, and two, she was dreading the school day... As she always did. It was bad enough going to school in the first place, but ever since she got these...
No. She wouldn't think of that right now. The girl sighed, and continued to looked out the window. A yawn escaped her lips, but she became more so awake the car stopped at a red light, and she could see into an alleyway. To her surprise, it was completely darkened, as if it was night in the large corridor. She stared, unbelieving, and squinted into the darkness. There was nothing to cause such a dark shadow as far as she could see. All she saw was... What is that? Was that a person? Before she could get a better look, the car sped off, leaving Rosa to stare of in the direction where she had seen the alley.
After a moment's contemplation, she had come to the conclusion that she was just tired, and her eyes were paying tricks on her. With this reassuring thought, Rosa yawned once more, and closed here icy blue eyes.

Chapter 3 - Blonde Girls
The TV blasted with the sound of generic cartoons. In the kitchen, dishes could be heard clinking around, being rearranged and washed from the morning breakfast. A boy was sitting on his sofa, staring absent-mindedly at the TV, Looking rather bored with it. He yawned and wiped the sleep from his eyes, then continued to stare the flashing pictures on the screen.
However, his viewing of the TV was cut short when it suddenly clicked off. The boy blinked, and looked up at the source of the interruption. His mother, a tall, self-assured woman, held the remote in her hand. She grinned over at the boy, and said, "Time for school, Derreck."
Derreck can be described as your normal twelve-year old boy. He's in seventh grade, about 5'5, dark hair, and greenish-brown eyes. He wasn't at all that interesting to look at. Just your average boy. However, Derreck could do things others could not. But, I digress.
Derreck hopped up from the couch, and walked over to his backpack, which was resting on the floor. He followed his mother to the front door, and continued on outside, into the car, and backed out of the driveway. He sighed, and turned on the radio. The song, 'Dear Prudence' came on, and he sat back, listening to it, still looking out the window.
"Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?
Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day.
The sun is up, the sky is blue,
it's beautiful and so are you...
Dear Prudence... won't you come out to play?"
Then, the world went blank. The only thing that could be seen was blackness. However, Derreck could still hear the radio, and knew that it was happening... Again.
For the longest time now, something odd had been going on with Derreck Stallings. For you see, though he may appear to be your average pre-teen, he has a secret... Along with many others around his age. He's kept this secret hidden from his family, from his friends, from the world. And now, as he rode in the car, the world dissolved away, the sound of the Beatles ringing in his ears.
"Dear Prudence, open up your eyes.
Dear Prudence, see the sunny skies.
The wind is low, the birds will sing,
that you are part of everything
Dear Prudence... won't you open up your eyes?"
He was having a Precognition. He had been having them more and more fluently, and he watched with interest and curiosity as a seen appeared in front of him. There was a girl with long, straight blonde hair. She had retro-cut bangs that covered her eyes, making their color unknown. A hood was pulled over her head, and a skirt adorned her hips. She wore heels that echoed through an unusually dark alleyway. Her lips were turned down in a frown, and the scene suddenly pulled backwards, to his school. He saw himself running into the blonde. The scene quavered, and then vanished.
"Look around, round round.
Look around, round round.
Oh, look around!"
He gasped as the car's interior came back into view, and he sat back in his seat. He frowned, and pondered upon the mystery person who was cast in shadows. Who... Who was that?
In the car beside him, Derreck saw another blonde girl. She appeared to be around his age, and he recognized her from seeing her at his school before. He didn't know her name, and he had never spoken to her. He just knew she went to his school. He looked away from the girl, not wanting her to look up and see him staring. He glared at his hands, and sighed. What was happening to him? Was there anyone out there who could help?
Maybe... Maybe the girl in his vision.

Chapter 4 - A Cold Heart
It was an odd feeling, if you had to describe it by an adjective. Watching all the insignificant little people, rushing about their lives, trying to find their path... Attempting to actually be worth something... Those... Morons. Imbeciles. Idiots. People can't win. They never do. In fact, all they do is lose. They lose at being the best, but they also lose at being the worse. They lose at love, and they lose at hate. They lose in violence, and they lose in peace. And in the end, they lose their life.
Morons.
A small laugh the girl's lips as she pondered upon this subject of contemplation. Heh. Morons indeed. All they could do was hope for something better, but they will never receive it. Hope. Faith. It's all just stupidity in the end. Love... Love falls under that category as well. River had to find that out the hard way.
And she'll never forget it.
The girl was walking down a long alleyway. The reason she was doing this was for two reasons. One, she noticed that it was cast in shadows, and she knew what that meant. Having been on the earth for 200 years really helps out in the quest to know all, see all. So, she recognized this abnormal shade to be what she had been looking for. Another person with Abilities. Another who could... Aid her in her quest. One she could take advantage of. The second reason you ask? Well, it's really quite simple...
She had nothing better to do.
So, with a smile on her lips. She made her way into the alley way. It wasn't long before she saw the source of the darkness. A girl, who appeared to be fifteen. Even though River looked to be ten... Well, you know how long she had really been on earth. Long enough to be this girl's great great great great great grandmother.
The petite girl walked towards the other. She stopped shortly in front of her, causing the fifteen-year-old to stop in her tracks. Her eyes were covered with a thin veil of blonde bangs. The little girl looked over the blonde, her bluish-purple eyes sweeping over her body.
"Hello, little girl." the blonde said. Her voice was on of kindess, but River saw right through that. Being around for so long made her realize when people are lying. And right now, with her experience, she could tell that Blondey here was lying.
"Cut the crap." River said. The blonde looked taken-aback, and the darkness swirled around them. The girl's dull blue eyes were now visible from behind her bangs, and the were wide with fear.
"Leave, hurry." she whispered. She gripped her hands together, forming fists, her nails cutting into her pale skin. River didn't move, but raised an eyebrow in an inquisitive manner. "I'm not goin' anywhere." she said. "I'm not afraid of you. In fact... You should be afraid of me."
A smirk crossed the petite girl's lips, and the shadows began to swirl violently. The blonde looked around, and said, "I'm not doing this..." she trailed off, and looked back at River. "You are."
"Smart one, aren't ya'?" she giggled, flipping some of her silvery-white hair over her shoulder. She smiled up at the teenager. And it was then that the blonde knew.
This wasn't your normal little girl.
"Oh, I wont hurt you." River said boredly, crossing her arms. "I just need a favor. Tell you what. You're going to give your powers over to me."
"And if I refuse?" the blonde whispered, taking a step back.
"Then I'll be forced to kill you."
The shadows raised higher, but this time, it wasn't River who was doing it. They rushed towards the blonde, and began to climb up her ankles, slithering up her knees. The eenager turned on he heel and ran out of the alley, the darkness following her. As soon as she had departed from the location, the normal coloring of the alley came back. As if the darkness had never been there. The only proof that it had once resided in the small alley way, was the little girl.
"This should be..." the girl smiled, and titled her head to the side. Her gaze rested upon the entrance of the alley, where the blonde had escaped. "...Fun."
