Since its inception in April 1830, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has often had a relationship with business. From the N.K. Whitney store 180 years ago to church held Deseret Book Company, which will be planning to enjoy 140 years in business, the Latter-day Saints have been mercantile oriented. Nauvoo hosts yet another great ancient business Zions Mercantile. To learn more, consider having a peep at: this month. This building and its nightly rentals and old store are good examples of the value based businesses which have always been a of our heritage says Mathew Glenn, President of Zions Mercantile; Industry and effort is part of our heritage.
Zions Mercantile is located down the street from the Nauvoo Temple and has an old fashioned store on the primary floor. The shop sells from handmade soaps and candles to actual antiques and art. Above the store are daily areas, which were designed just a little larger and are made after the traditional domiciles and Inns of old Nauvoo. Each room has amazing and up-close views of the Temple and balconies that watch out over the little village. The rooms can be hired nightly and offer people a spot where they can all remain together instead of breaking down into many small motel rooms beyond town.
We have an excellent store on the main floor which provides Deseret Book products, and family lodging on top of the floor that produces this whole building seem to come to life with history says Glenn. Zions Mercantile also offers a bakery which provided specialty soups and sandwiches in addition to an array of baked pies and breads.
Our true goal is to continue steadily to maintain the tradition of friendly service and good value. Hopefully that may always remain our logo says Glenn.
